Message from Pastor Mori Dear RFUMC family This is time of year when the air gets crisper, and the days get shorter. As we walk on the street at the early morning and after night, we are aware that Chicago's long winter is closed to us. At the ends of October and starting at the November I hope everyone enjoying fall weather. Season of fall, we prepared very fun ministry events at the same time we will have Church Annual Conference is coming! First, I want to invite you to Halloween party on Monday October 31 at the Japanese Garden. According to Resourceumc.org "For the United Methodist Church does not have an official statement or position regarding Halloween. Congregations are free to make own decisions about Halloween activities" We will celebrate Halloween that life and bright color rather than death and fear and darkness. But still tune with fun of spooky mood. We will offer fun and delightful community event to children and family. After this Sunday service we will decorate the Japanese Garden. So, if you have extra Halloween decoration stuff, please bring them to us, and lend us for a week! Our Halloween party we will starts on Halloween day 4:00 PM. If you have any questions, please contact to Juliane. The other important fundraising events is coming! Our Annual Pancake Breakfast is coming. Please join Saturday November 5. It starts 9:00-1:00 PM here is the link for order and if you willing to volunteer for the events, please contact Donna and Debbie. The last but very important news is about the church conference on Nov 6 Sunday. According to United Methodist Dictionary Church Conferee means "The convening of the Charge Conference as a meeting in which all members of a local United Methodist church are invited to attend and are extended the privilege of vote. A Church Conference is called to have broad participation of the members of the congregation." Church Conference is the time we celebrate our yearly ministry as a local church and evaluate and revisit our ministry and plan and confirmed the business and ministry plans for next year. Also, we will elect lay leadership for the following years through church member's voting and participation. Church Conference is open to everyone, who love and care the Ravenswood Fellowship UMC. We are welcome to your attend and observation with supporting heart. For this year annual church conference, especially Rev. Brian Smith will be with us as Presiding Elder. As we celebrate fall ministry events, we thanks to God for our community and faithful leaders and serve each other in the loving and caring heart. Blessings MORI |
