Sixth Sunday of Easter

Ravenswood Fellowship United Methodist Church

The Weekly Newsletter

   Message from Pastor Mori

Dear RFUMC family

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

As we approach Mother's Day, we are filled with gratitude for the extraordinary person who have blessed our lives. The Bible reminds us of the significance of mothers and their incredible impact on our journey of faith.

In Proverbs 31:28, we find these inspiring words: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." This verse beautifully captures the reverence and appreciation we have for our mothers. They have nurtured us, encouraged us, and guided us along the path of righteousness.

In our Methodist heritage, we find a deep appreciation for family and the role of mothers in nurturing and shaping the faith of their children. John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, recognized the significant influence of mothers in guiding their families toward a life of devotion to God. He spoke of the vital role mothers play in instilling spiritual values and cultivating a deep love for Christ.

During our worship service this week, we will offer prayers of thanksgiving for their selfless love and sacrifices. Let us also remember those who have gone before us, the faithful mothers who have shaped the history of our church and passed down a legacy of faith.

As we honor and celebrate our mothers, let us also remember the ultimate example of love and sacrifice found in our Lord Jesus Christ. He tenderly cares for us as a mother cares for her child, providing comfort, guidance, and unfailing love.

May this Mother's Day be a time of joy, gratitude, and profound appreciation for the remarkable mothers who have touched our lives. Together, let us rise up and call them blessed, offering our heartfelt praise and thanksgiving.

In the love of Christ,

Mori

Fifth Sunday of Easter

Ravenswood Fellowship United Methodist Church

The Weekly Newsletter

   Message from Pastor Mori

Dear RFUM family

As we enter the month of May, we are filled with gratitude and excitement to celebrate Asian Heritage Month. This special time invites us to honor the diverse cultures and heritage of RFUMC. It is an opportunity for us to learn, appreciate, and unite in celebrating the contributions and unique experiences that our Japanese American community brings to our congregation and the wider community.

In the Scriptures, we are reminded of the beauty of diversity and the unity that is found in Christ. In Galatians 3:28, the Apostle Paul writes, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." These words affirm that our identity as followers of Christ transcends racial, cultural, and social boundaries. It is a call to embrace and celebrate our differences, recognizing that our unity is found in Christ alone.

Throughout history, Japanese culture has offered the world a treasure trove of wisdom, art, science, and spirituality. From the delicate art of flower arrangement (ikebana - YAY Yuko) to the contemplative practice of tea ceremonies (chado), and the intricate craft of origami. Japanese heritage has enriched the human experience in immeasurable ways. As we celebrate Asian Heritage Month, let us open our hearts and minds to the wealth of knowledge and beauty that Japanese and Asian culture has to offer.

We pray for unity, harmony, and understanding among all people, and may we be willing to play our part in fostering a more inclusive and loving society.

May this Asian Heritage Month be a time of reflection, education, and growth for our congregation and community. May it serve as a reminder of the power of unity found in Christ and the beauty of diversity that reflects God's creativity !!

With love and blessings,

Mori
