MAY CALENDAR

MAY HAPPENINGS

Join us on Sunday, May 22nd to hear Rev. David Weasley, Community & Congregational Relations Coordinator at The Night Ministry and an ordained American Baptist pastor, speak of the work of that organization and the opportunities for volunteering for this important ministry known for working during the night

when people in need are most vulnerable. Church worship service is at 10:30am followed by a Fellowship & Refreshment time.

Come hear some Cool Jazz that same Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm for a mere $10.00 donation, performed by Pam & Son, a mother & son duo comprised of Pam Morita and Paul Eirik (aka P.E.)

Pam, a pianist/singer, currently of Phoenix, AZ, has played numerous Chicago venues including the Drake Hotel, Park Hyatt Hotel, the Fairmont and Palmer House as well as the jazz clubs Andy's and the Green Mill.

Paul began playing saxophone at age 10 and has performed with many well-known jazz groups in Arizona including the Charles Lewis Group for a concert series funded by the Smithsonian Institute. He was lead saxophonist for the 2006 Jazz Band of America concert under the direction of Ron McCurdy with special guest Wynton Marsalis.

The duo will perform jazz standards as well as original pieces. And the acoustics in the church sanctuary are awesome. For further information, call 773.764.2475.

Throughout May, Pastor Linda will be basing her sermons on An Altar in the World, a book by Barbara Brown Taylor, a former Episcopal priest and now a college professor. In her book she reminds us that the sacred love of God is in many of the small things we do not see all around us day to day.

Vacation Bible School will take place in August at 6:30 to 9:30pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,

August 8, 9 & 10 with a culminating program on Sunday, August 14th. Watch for further details about this year's theme and program.
