FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT

Ravenswood Fellowship United Methodist Church

The Weekly Newsletter

   Message from Pastor Mori

Dear Ravenswood Fellowship Family.

With your amazing support, we had a meaningful Ravenswood Fellowship Church Conference for 2021. I am so glad we had a chance to celebrate our ministry in 2021 and take time to thank our church leaders.

As we have a time to reflect on our ministries in 2021, I realized one important thing: even though we are having global crisis we still have so many things to give thanks to God during this Thanksgiving week.

Today, I want to thank God. Throughout this year I learned the firm truth that when I stay connected to Jesus and grounded in my faith, no matter what I go through, I don't need to be afraid or be overwhelmed by situations because I am not going through it alone. Isaiah 43:2- 3 says:
"When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. For I am the Lord your God."

I know God, who is the redeemer and savoir walks with me. I hope all of you have a wonderful time with your family and friends and share your message of gratitude and give thanks to God.

The other reason why I am grateful to God is after Thanksgiving week we will have our winter ministries. They are so exciting.

First: Advent is coming!! We will have a Hanging of the Greens prayer and celebration after Saturday Yoga class. Our craft team will lead us and all of you are welcome to take part in this decorating gathering. It is Nov 27, Saturday 10:30 AM, int the sanctuary.

Second: This week, Sunday, November 28th, is Rainbow Sunday. Rev. Karen Madrone who is a Unitarian pastor and the Director of Lifespan Religious Education will preach. I hope many of you can join in-person and meet Rev. Karen.

Third: Our Advent Book/Prayer Group will start on Thursday, December 02. See the attached application, in-person and zoom at 7:00 PM.

Fourth: We will have a Christmas Potluck party on a Sunday in December 19th Sunday. Compared to last winter, when everything was closed, this is wonderful news for me and this opportunity for winter ministry makes me humble and grateful to God.

What is your reason to be grateful to God?

I like American Journalist and author, Elizabeth Gilbert's quote: "You were given life; it is your duty (and also your entitlement as a human being) to find something beautiful within life, no matter how slight."

I hope all of you have found beautiful reasons to give thanksgiving and I can't wait to meet you and work with you during these exciting winter ministries!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Recalling his own journey through grief, depression, burnout, and emotional breakdown, Dotson is passionate about calling for a Soul Reset for pastors, church leaders, and all disciples of Jesus Christ.

Church Conference SUNDAY

Ravenswood Fellowship United Methodist Church

The Weekly Newsletter

   Message from Pastor Mori

Dear RFUMC family.

This Sunday is Ravenswood Fellowship UMC Annual Church Conference, and we will be having a special type of meeting called "Conferencing Worship."  Instead of having a set time for a meeting following worship, we will have a worship service that is about an hour longer that will be led by District Superintendent Brittany. Conferencing Worship gives more people in the congregations a chance to participate in this annual meeting. While we are worshiping and conferencing together, we will celebrate and thank our leaders and prepare for next year's ministry.

I hope many of you can join the Conferencing Worship either in-person or by using Zoom.

Thank you and I hope to see you all this Sunday!

Blessings,

MORI
