Message from Pastor Mori Will you pray with me? I want to call us to prayer for social injustice !! During Lent I asked our daily prayer group to pray for justice. I remember the day that we heard the opening statements in Minneapolis. Before the trial started, Floyd's family and lawyers knelt in front of the courthouse for 9min and 29 seconds. Almost two weeks of attention has been focused on the trial. The trial revealed that a human being had laid face down on the pavement until he breathed his last breath. Now, more painful news: a few days ago we heard of another unarmed African American young man killed at the hands of law enforcement with the shooting came an approximately 10 miles from the trial over George Floyd's death. What can we do as a church? We proclaim that we serve a God of Justice and love our neighbors. How can we find ways to love justice for the sake of our next generation? What kind of world will we leave for them? As a church I think we need to pause and pray. Each day we have an opportunity to change the world, and I believe our daily prayer can be the breath of justice. The United Methodist Church Disciple ministry invites us to pray together. The prayer will begin on Friday, April 16, at 11 am CT, and continue over the following days. Discipleship Ministries said, "Beginning Friday, April 16, at 11 a.m. CT, and over the next few days, we at Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century (SBC21), Native American Comprehensive Plan (NACP), Discipleship Ministries, and The Upper Room will be offering Facebook Live events and other resources that can help equip and strengthen us for the journey" Here is the more information.
