TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

Ravenswood Fellowship United Methodist Church

The Weekly Newsletter

   Message from Pastor Mori

Dear RFUMC family.

Are you tired of listening about COVID?
Me too, but we are still in a battle with COVID, and there are people who are very vulnerable.

I read an interesting titled that "An Unvaccinated Child is at Less Risk of Serious Covid Illness than a Vaccinated 70-year-old." The article's main argument is that the risks for unvaccinated children look similar to the risks for vaccinated people in their 50s. Therefore, we should keep our eyes focused on the protection of unvaccinated children and keep wearing masks to protect others. Also, this chart shows that Covid risks remain serious for vaccinate elderly people.

I appreciate your cooperation with health guidelines including wearing masks in the church building. I have never worried about our mask wearing policy; the RFUMC family is amazing at take care of each other.

Also, I want to share the other great news. After our September Reopening committee meeting, we sent out a survey about COVID and our continuing safety measures. We received 33 responses and all of those responding indicated that they were vaccinated. This is very exciting news because every Sunday we have from 15 to 20 people attending in-person worship and 20 to 25 people attending by Zoom.

I deeply thank all who responded to the survey. If you did not have a chance to respond to the survey, please click here.

As the weather is changing, it may be time to begin preparing for cold weather. If you have plans to receive a flu shot, here is good information on how to get a free flu shot. To registerer a flu shot, click here

As I had previously announced, I am going to be on vacation next week and will be back at the end of October. There will be no weekly newsletter for October 24 and October 31. The newsletter will return with the November 07 edition.

I hope all of RFUMC will have a healthy and happy fall.

Blessings,

MORI

All Vitality Yoga classes welcome you at whatever level of fitness and experience you currently find yourself. The purpose of practicing is function over form: why am I doing this pose? How does this improve my quality of life? Sure, it's great to do elegant, acrobatic poses ~ but most of us just want to move with ease, breathe freely, and feel peace. Let's just move the spine in 6 directions, shall we ? This is a part of every class. See you all this Saturday (10/16)  8:45 AM at the RFUMC Gym

47th Ward Health and Wellness Fair

Our Health and Wellness Fair is returning this year, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at Sulzer Library, 4455 N Lincoln.

Ald. Martin is partnering with the Department of Public Health to host a flu and COVID-19 vaccination clinic, and we'll have other health screenings and resources on hand during the event, including blood pressure screenings, "ask the doctor" consultations, mental health services and more.

Flu shots will be available for all ages, and COVID shots are available to anyone 12 years or older (subject to change if the FDA authorizes use for children under 12). While walk-ins are welcome, the Department of Public Health recommends that individuals sign up for an appointment to save time at the event.

Register for an appointment at tinyurl.com/47thwardflu. You can also download an FAQ on the flu and COVID vaccines here

Walk-in clinics for all ages: There is also a walk-in clinic at 845 W Wilson open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday/Wednesday/Friday or 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday/Thursday. Learn more here.
