Message from Pastor Mori Dear RFUMC family This is the first rummage sale of my life! So when the rummage sale committee announced the 2022 Ravenswood Rummage sale, my first of response was "worry." Yes, I was worried because we are still threatened by Covid-19 variations so I expected that no one would provide us with donations. I didn't know how we could fill RFUMC's giant gym and rummage room. We had gigantic empty rooms….and I thought, "how will we fill them." But the rummage sale committee said, "Don't worry about the donations." Honesty, I could not give up my doubt: however, an amazing thing happened the very next day: we started to receive donations, and then the same thing happened on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and as the time passed, I learned that we receive donations not only from Church members, but also from neighbors. People keep bringing things to sell: some young girl donated her doll set, a man brought clothes that no longer fit. I don't know how they learned about the RFUMC rummage sale! But what I know is the empty gym filled out with all of clothes and shoes and accessories and the rummage room is filled with household goods and decorations. As I opened the church door for another donor who had never been in the church but wanted to help us, I learned the power of community. Also, I want to deeply thank the rummage sale committee: Lisa, Teddie, Marlynne, Cheryl, BJ, Donna, Tammy, Betty, Sarah, John, Julane and Yuko…and the young adult group who helped to move furniture and hangers! Last week, I met this group everyday as they came to work at the rummage sale. I want to say thank you to all the volunteers who are our good friends and to all the different churches they came to RFUMC to help us. I met a lot of good people who really care about the community through the preparations for the rummage sale and I praise God for their ministry!! Thank you! Blessings MORI Monday Thursday Monday Thursday |
